You can submit documents and receive your translations entirely online from anywhere in Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, etc.) or the world. You've seen us mention NAATI certification, but what does that actually mean for your documents? Let's explain why it’s the gold standard in Australia.

What Is a NAATI Certified Translation?

A NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) certified translation is the official standard for translations in Australia. It is performed by a translator who NAATI accredits. These translations are stamped and signed by the accredited translator, confirming their accuracy and authenticity for official use. You can see exactly what a certified translation looks like on our samples page.

What Kind of Documents Do You Translate?

We translate a wide range of personal and official documents. Our most common requests include: Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, Driver's Licences, Passports, Police Checks, Diplomas and Academic Transcripts, and Legal Contracts. If your document isn't listed, simply upload it for a free quote, and we'll confirm if we can translate it for you.

How Long Is a NAATI Translation Valid for?

A NAATI certified translation does not have an official expiry date. As long as the original document is still valid, the translation will be too. It remains a true and accurate record of the source document at the time it was translated.

Why Do I Need a NAATI Certified Translation?

You typically need a NAATI certified translation when submitting foreign language documents to Australian government bodies, educational institutions, or for legal purposes. Common examples include: Visa and citizenship applications (Department of Home Affairs) University and TAFE enrolments Driver's licence conversions Legal proceedings and court documents

Is Your Translation Guaranteed to Be Accepted?

Yes. We offer a 100% Acceptance Guarantee. All our NAATI certified translations are guaranteed to be accepted by Australian government departments. But don't just take our word for it—this guarantee is backed by our proven track record with thousands of successful submissions. Check out our case studies page to read the success stories.

What Is the Difference Between a Certified (NAATI) and a Non-Certified Translation?

A NAATI Certified Translation is the official standard required by Australian government bodies for things like visa applications, citizenship, and court proceedings. It is stamped and signed by a NAATI-accredited translator. A Non-Certified (or plain) translation is for informational purposes only, like understanding a website or a personal letter, and is not accepted for official use in Australia. We specialise in NAATI Certified Translations to ensure your documents are accepted.

Can You Certify a Translation That I Have Already Done Myself or by Another Translator?

No, our NAATI-certified translators cannot stamp or certify a translation completed by someone else. For a translation to be NAATI certified, the accredited translator must complete the translation from scratch to personally guarantee its accuracy and take full professional responsibility for it.

Is an Electronic (PDF) Copy of a NAATI Translation Sufficient, or Do I Need a Physical Hard Copy?

stamped PDF copy we email you is sufficient. Government bodies like the Department of Home Affairs, as well as universities and professional accreditation bodies, are set up for online applications and readily accept digital certified translations. Our electronic documents contain the official NAATI translator's digital stamp, signature, and a certification statement, making them fully valid. We always recommend checking the specific requirements of the authority you are submitting to, but in over 99% of cases, the digital version is all you will need. If you do require a physical hard copy for any reason, we can post one to you for a small fee. Now that you understand the importance of NAATI certification, you might be wondering how to get started. Our ordering process is designed to be quick and straightforward.

How Do I Get a Quote?

Our process is simple and can be done in 3 steps: Get a Free Quote: Fill out our online form and upload a clear scan or photo of your document(s). Confirm & Pay: You'll receive a firm quote. Once you accept and make the payment online, we begin the translation. Receive Your Translation: We'll email you a digital (PDF) copy of the NAATI certified translation. How Do I Submit My Documents? Do You Need the Original?

We do not need the original hard copy. You can simply upload a clear digital photo or scan of your document through our secure online form. Please ensure all text and stamps are clearly legible.

What If My Document is Old, Damaged, or Has a Faint Stamp?

We frequently work with historical or aged documents. As long as some part of the text is legible, our expert translators can often decipher it. Please upload the clearest scan you can, and we will advise you honestly on its viability for a NAATI-certified translation. We have successfully translated documents that clients initially thought were unusable.

What Is the Difference Between a Translator and an Interpreter?

A translator works with written text, converting a document from a source language to a target language (e.g., translating a Spanish birth certificate into English). An interpreter works with spoken language in real-time (e.g., at a conference or a court hearing). OZTranslation Services specialises in written document translation.

What Information Do You Need From Me To Provide An Accurate Quote?

To give you a fast and accurate quote, all we need is a clear scan or photo of the document(s) you need translated. Please ensure all text, stamps, and signatures are legible. On our quote form, you can also specify which language you need it translated into and if you have an urgent deadline.

My Name is Spelled Differently across My Documents. What Should I Do?

This is a very common situation. Please provide all variations of the name spelling when you place your order, and specify which version is required for the application you are submitting. We can add a translator's note to the certified translation explaining the discrepancy, which is standard practice and accepted by Australian authorities.

Can I Request a Revision If There Is a Mistake or a Name Is Spelled Incorrectly?

Absolutely. While we double-check all translations, errors can occasionally occur, especially with the spelling of non-standard names. If you spot an error, simply email us within 7 days of delivery, and we will amend it and issue a new version free of charge. A key part of any order is knowing the cost. Here’s a look at our transparent pricing and the secure payment methods we accept.

Is Payment Required Upfront?

Yes, we require payment in full before we begin the translation process. This allows us to immediately secure one of our NAATI-accredited professionals and dedicate their time to your project, ensuring a prompt start and a fast turnaround. Your upfront payment is fully protected by our 100% Acceptance Guarantee and our free revision policy, so you can place your order with complete confidence that you will receive a high-quality, accepted translation.

How Much Does a Translation Cost?

Pricing is based on the document's word count, complexity, and language. Standard documents like birth certificates or driver's licences often have a fixed price. For other documents, we provide a custom quote. Our pricing is transparent, with no hidden fees.

Is the Quote You Provide the Final Price?

Yes, the quote we provide is the final price for the translation service as described. If you require additional services like express turnaround or postage of a hard copy, these will be clearly stated in the quote.

We accept secure online payments via all major debit or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), bank transfer, and PayPal. With pricing and payment clarified, let's talk about the final step: receiving your completed translation. This section covers our timelines, delivery methods, and how we keep your information safe.

All documents are handled through our secure online portal, and access is restricted to our project managers and the assigned NAATI translator. A strict privacy policy binds us, and we are happy to delete your files from our system upon request once the project is complete. Our commitment to quality doesn't end upon delivery. Here’s what you can expect in terms of post-project support to ensure you are completely satisfied.

Your satisfaction is our priority. If you require a revision (e.g., a name spelling correction), please contact us within 7 days of receiving your translation, and we will make the necessary amendments free of charge.
